Hotels with parking in Brussels: which ones have a garage and what they charge per day

We checked the listings of the 50 properties we track: 23 have parking on the premises (private or public) and another 9 point to a public car park a few metres away. Here they are with the daily price each one publishes, whether you need to reserve, and which neighbourhood they are in.

Is it worth coming to Brussels by car?

Yes, if Brussels is a stop on a road trip through Belgium or the Netherlands, if you travel with children or lots of luggage, or if your base is going to be the European Quarter or Louise, where almost every hotel has a garage.

Less so if you are sleeping in the historic centre and will not move the car: the centre is largely pedestrianised, the garage costs 25-36 € a day, and in two or three days you pay what public transport costs for the whole stay. Look at the hotels near the Grand Place and leave the car in a public car park.

What parking costs in Brussels and what to know

Among the 23, parking ranges from free (the B&B Souverain 94 in Watermael-Boitsfort and the Generation Europe hostel in Molenbeek, the hostel on reservation, the B&B without) to 45 € a day (Stanhope, 5-star). The norm at 4-star hotels in the European Quarter and the centre is 25-36 €; the cheapest with a garage are Sun Hotel (15 €), FLATS aparthotel (15 €) and the First Floor apartment (10 €, on the street, next to Midi).

To reserve or not: eight of the 23 require you to reserve the space (marked on each card); at another eight the listing says "cannot be reserved", meaning first come, first served. If parking is a condition for you, message the hotel before paying.

Low Emission Zone (LEZ): the whole Brussels-Capital Region is a LEZ. A car with foreign plates must be registered online (free) before entering, the oldest cars cannot drive in at all, and driving in unregistered means a fine. Street parking is paid almost everywhere in the city, generally 9 am to 6 or 9 pm depending on the commune, and public car parks cost 20-35 € a day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does hotel parking cost in Brussels?
Between 10 and 45 € a day at the 23 that have it on site; 25 € is the most common. Two offer it free (Souverain 94 and Generation Europe) and the 5-star hotels with their own garage charge 35-45 €.
Are there hotels with free parking?
Two of the ones we track: the B&B Souverain 94 in Watermael-Boitsfort and the HI Generation Europe hostel in Molenbeek. The hostel asks you to reserve the space, the B&B does not; both are outside the centre.
Do I need to reserve the parking?
At eight of the 23, yes (Hygge, Van Belle, Barry, Sun Hotel, Stanhope, DRUUM, FLATS and Generation Europe). At another eight it cannot be reserved and is first come, first served; the rest do not require it.
What is the LEZ and does it affect a foreign car?
It is the Low Emission Zone covering the whole Brussels region. With foreign plates you must register the car online before entering (free); very old cars cannot drive in, and entering unregistered brings a fine.
